Rumor: Nintendo 3DS Will Be Supported Till 2018
According to the latest claim from industry insider Emily Rogers, Nintendo will support 3DS with software till 2018. Meaning Nintendo 3DS players still have a couple of years of software support left in the bank.
For the time being, it is unclear what will happen to once support ends. Will Nintendo announce a new handheld? Well, if we bring in some Nintendo NX rumors at this point, we may be able to speculate Nintendo’s plans.
According to many different rumors from many different sources including Emily Rogers, Nintendo NX is a hybrid machine. It is a handheld that can be connected to a HDTV for experience console gaming.
It would not be a surprise to see Nintendo promoting its NX handheld and dropping the DS brand. Rumor has it that Nintendo NX is using Nvidia hardware. To be more specific, it is using a modified version of X2 aka parker.
The chip packs enough power for the handheld to act as a console when connected with a HD TV. The chip will feature four ARM-based Cortex-A57 cores and two homegrown Denver2 cores, it will use Pascal architecture for its GPU. The same one used for Nvidia’s flagship GPU models – GTX Titan X, GTX 1080, GTX 1070, and GTX 1060.
It is no secret that Nintendo is struggling in the console space and it would be a wise more of merge its handheld and console business by creating a very unique machine.
We are hearing that Nintendo NX is going to be revealed on September 21 via an exclusive Nintendo event. The company is yet to confirm such an event and that is also true for all of the above mentioned information.
