EA: A new Bioware IP Is In Development, Will Be Revealed Soon
Bioware is currently busy developing Mass Effect Andromeda. However, that is not the only game in development at Bioware, according to a EA executive a new Bioware IP is in development.
Speaking with Gamesindustry.biz Executive Vice President of EA Studios, Patrick Soderlund, said that the company has always been open about the new Bioware IP, and the company will soon talk about it and reveal some details.
But we’ve been very open about the fact that Bioware is working on a new IP, and we’ll get to talk about that in the not too distant future. We have other teams working on new IP as well. I think it’s about a balance, right? Making sure that we continue to push what great looks like for Battlefield or FIFA or Madden – or Star Wars, for that matter – while continuing to invest in something new.
He further said that the gaming community has an effect on how the games are developed, so that they can understand if they are going in the right direction.
We don’t want to design by committee, we don’t want to go out and let the players design the games for us – that’s not who we are – but we do want to make sure that we have touch points with players out there, so we can understand if we’re thinking about this in the right way.
In related news, recently Patric Soderlund revealed that remasters for Mass Effect trilogy is an easy way to make money. However, the company is focused on the future of the industry.
We’re a company that is focused on delivering for the future. I was asked a question once [about the remasters and said] it’s just not what we do. We’ve got incredibly talented dev studios around the world who are focused on delivering new IP, new experiences, [and] more and more live services.
What do you think the new Bioware IP will be? Let us know in the comments.
