Reggie Fils-Amie Reveals Galaxy Style Nintendo 3DS XL
Reggie Fils-Amie, the president of Nintendo America, has revealed a new Galaxy Style Nintendo 3DS XL, the latest version of the handheld console to come out during its run. The new handheld will cost 199.99 and will become available sometime this week, but you should hold your horses if you think it’s anything other than a new handheld.
That’s right, this isn’t a stealth promotion for a port of Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the 3DS XL. There will be no bundled games, nothing special about the system other than its color.
Regardless of the relative lack of anything more notable about the system, it’s still got a fair amount of popularity online; there’s already a waiting list of around 1 to 2 months before you can get one, despite the 200 dollar price tag.
Nintendo has often put out new versions of its handhelds to promote various other games, but that doesn’t seem like it’s happening this time. Previous new 3DS XL iterations have been put out for the remastering of Majora’s Mask and the release of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, but the Galaxy Style Nintendo 3DS XL doesn’t appear to have anything to do with any other game.
Either way, at least the case looks pretty snazzy.
