A schedule of something that looked like it came from a Famitsu issue may have just leaked that a Nights of Azure 2 announcement is coming soon, and that it will be released on December 22 in Japan, for the Playstation 4. According to the magazine there will be three editions, a regular one, a Premium Edition, and a Special Collector’s Edition.

Nights of Azure first came out in 2015 for the Playstation 4, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita, as an action role-playing game. It was then released across the rest of the world in the first few months of 2016. While it only sold around 80,000 copies it did get good reviews, which apparently made it successful enough for its developer, Gust, to start working on a sequel.

Earlier this year Gust had started up a new website that was promoting a new title from Kagero series director Makoto Shibata. That, coupled with the Famitsu leak, indicates that we may be getting a Nights of Azure 2 announcement sometime in the near future. According to the website, more details will be coming on August 25, so we may know if it’s a sequel or not around that time.

Nights of Azure 2 hasn’t gotten an announcement trailer in the meantime, but it may be one of the new details coming on August 25, so that we can actually learn about whether or not the game will actually be getting a sequel, and what new sorts of mechanics will be in the sequel when it comes out.

We’ll just have to be patient and see if the details coming on August 25 actually do point toward a Nights of Azure 2, or whether they point towards a new IP. In the meantime, you can play the first Nights of Azure game on Playstation Vita, Playstation 3, and Playstation 4 to see if Nights of Azure 2 would be worth buying.
