While it had been known for some time that the game will have microtransactions, mainly for the game’s Breach mode in the form of purchaseable booster packs, the full extent of Deus Ex Mankind Divided microtransactions was unclear.

Now that the game is available in stores and digital stores have mentioned more details about the Deus Ex Mankind Divided microtransactions, we have a better idea of how far this reaches throughout the game. Turns out that not only booster packs but also in-game currency and Praxis Kits can be purchased with real money.

Square Enix, publishers of the game, seem to have taken the whole “player choice” stance a bit too seriously as now it is up to the players whether they want to earn in-game currency and Praxis Kits the normal way or buy them in bundles.

Right now, the currency can be purchased in packs of 1000, 5000, 10,000 and 15,000 Credits for $0.99, $4.49, $7.49 and $9.99 respectively. On the other hand, Praxis Kits are available as bundles of 1, 5 and 10 for the price of $0.99, $3.99 and $6.99.

Chipsets, the currency used in Breach game mode, were originally expected to be the only Deus Ex Mankind Divided microtransactions. They are currently available in packs of 10, 50, 100 and 500 for $0.99, $4.49, $7.49 and $29.99 respectively. These Booster Packs bought from these Chipsets can unlock custom weapons and other stuff in the Breach mode.

There are also two other purchaseable weapon packs in the game, which are also part of the season pass. Both of these packs, Tactical and Assault, provide players with some ammo, grenades and weapon skins which seem pretty lackluster.

While microtransactions, if done properly, in a singleplayer game don’t really break the experience in my opinion since there is no pay-to-win element involved here and it is up to the player whether they want to grind for those materials or just spend some money on them.

However, microtransactions and DLCs done on this scale where the content provided seems to be of poor quality (like the season pass) does end up being pretty frustrating.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
