Live Action Pokemon Movie Might Get ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ And ‘Gravity Falls’ Writers
Movies based on video games are nothing new, and these movies being disastrous is also nothing new. However, many Hollywood studios were after the rights for live action Pokemon Movie, but studios doubled their efforts since the launch and success of Pokemon Go.
However, the rights for Pokemon Movie landed to Legendary, and now the studio has started to hire writers to pen the script. According to Variety, Legendary is in negotiations with Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch to pen the script for live action Pokemon Movie. The news comes shortly after the announcement that Legendary has acquired the rights to the movie.
This is not the only movie based on video games in development. As Assassin’s Creed movie is scheduled to release this December. Also another Ubisoft video game is being turned into a movie, The Division.
The Division movie will star Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal. Also Gyllenhaal will not only star in The Division movie but he will also produce the movie himself. Ubisoft is still looking for a writer to whom they can entrust the responsibility of creating a script.
The silver screen adaptation will follow the story of the game very closely. The movie will focus on a military unit trying to find a cure for the disease that has nearly destroyed New York.
These are not the first Ubisoft’s game to be adapted as a movie. Back in 2010 Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time was released which also starred Jake Gyllenhaal as the main protagonist.
Movies based on video games have a bad history of being a mediocre movies. Like The Warcraft movie that released earlier this year, and many had high hopes for it, but in the end the result was mediocre.
