A new Pokémon manga series for the upcoming games, Pokémon Sun and Moon will be starting on CoroCoro Comic. The manga series is set to begin in October with its first issue and will be featuring a new protagonist.

Tenya Yabuno, who previously worked on the story and artwork for Inazuma Eleven and Inazuma Eleven Go’s mangas, along with artwork for Digimon Adventure: V-Tamer 01, will be in charge of the new Pokémon manga.

Not a whole lot is known about the manga yet besides that it is set in Alola Region of the Pokémon world. More details are expected on August 12th when the latest version of CoroCoro is released.

Pokémon Sun and Moon, like all the other Pokémon games are two titles being released simultaneously with some slight changes between them. The games are set to release for Nintendo’s 3DS handheld console in Japan and America on 18th November while European release will follow on 23rd.

The game series even managed to make headlines recently, even though it didn’t seem possible given the craze for Pokémon GO and how it has been dominating handheld/mobile gaming market since its launch.

Both games managed to break franchise records in Italy through their pre-order numbers part of which might have to do with the immense popularity and media coverage of Pokémon GO. Another big reason could be the way the games are shaking up the tried and tested formula of previous games.

Pokémon Sun & Moon will be featuring a huge variety of different forms of Pokémon, remove Gyms as well as changing other parts of the Pokémon catching journey in a big way.

Given the rise in popularity of the entire Pokémon property and the upcoming manga, there is a high chance that the pre-order numbers will increase drastically in other countries as well and also increase the sales of 3DS consoles.
