Platinum Games Don’t Know What the Future Holds for Metal Gear Rising, Sequel Is a Possibility
Platinum Games is the developer of Metal Gear Rising and it is safe to say they did an exceptional job. The game was published by Konami and Hideo Kojima helped Platinum Games with Rising.
Platinum Games was believed to be working on a sequel to Metal Gear Rising. In fact, last year Sony teased something that we believe was Rising 2.
However, it looks like nothing is happening in this regard. Kotaku spoke with co-founder Atsushi Inaba.
Inaba stated that Metal Gear Rising is owned by Konami and since Kojima Productions is no longer with Konami, the future of Metal Gear Rising is unknown.
Rising? That’s Konami’s IP. And Kojima Productions [at Konami] no longer exists. We don’t even know what will happen next. That’s just looking at this from our point of view.
However, they would love to work on Metal Gear Rising 2. In fact, they won’t mind working on Bayonetta 3 and Vanish 2.
For any time, if we have the chance to make a sequel, we want to do it. There is no title we don’t want to make a sequel for. So, of course, we want to make Bayonetta 3 and Vanish 2. So, yes, we want to make sequels.
Konami is having a hard time without Kojima it seems but the Japanese Giant should be back up on its feet in no time. The best way to gain our trust back is to work on games that we love. Metal Gear Rising 2 is one of the games fans would love to see.
