Report: The Division Movie Might Star Oscar Nominee “Jessica Chastain”
Ubisoft seems to be determined to convert its video game properties into films. With Assassins Creed Movie on the way to release this December, Ubisoft is stepping up its game to develop The Division movie.
Now a report suggest that Ubisoft is trying to get another high profile actor for its The Division movie. According to Hollywood reporter, Zero Dark Thirty and Interstellar star, Jessica Chastain, might join the cast of the movie. The report suggests that Jessica Chastain is in negotiations to star in The Division movie.
Jessica Chastain will not be the first A-list actor to join the cast, as Jake Gyllenhaal has already signed a deal to star in the movie. Gyllenhaal will not only star in The Division movie but he will also produce the movie himself.
Ubisoft is still looking for a writer to whom they can entrust the responsibility of creating a script.
The silver screen adaptation will follow the story of the game very closely. The movie will focus on a military unit trying to find a cure for the disease that has nearly destroyed New York.
Jessica Chastain has been nominated a couple of time for Academy Awards. One for her role in Zero Dark Thirty and second for a supporting actress in The Help.
Ubisoft is currently wrapping up its production for its most ambitious game adaptation to date with Assassin’s Creed movie. Michael Fassbender has played the lead role along with Marion Cotillard.
Assassin’s Creed Movie is being directed by Justin Kurzel who previously worked with Fassbender in Macbeth.
This is not the first Ubisoft’s game to be adapted as a movie. Back in 2010 Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time was released which also starred Jake Gyllenhaal as the main protagonist.
Movies based on video games have a history of being mediocre.
