Vikings – Wolves of Midgard Announced By Kalypso Media
Vikings – Wolves of Midgard, an Action RPG by Kalypso Media has just been announced. Wolves of Midgard is a bold new IP by German developers Kalypso Media, best known for Tropico franchise, and Games Farm.
Talking about the story of the game, Kalypso Media talked about a war between Jotan and Gods of Asgard. According to legend, in the harshest of winters when the fate of Midgard hangs in balance while Fire and Frost Giants unite their armies to exact revenge on the Gods, they will encounter the clan of Ulfung – the Wolves of Midgard.
These Viking warriors have been through tough times but that has only made their resolve stronger. Players will be in the shoes of clan’s chief and must save Midgard from complete annihilation, and spearhead the charge to vanquish the fiendish creatures of the Fimbulwinter.
Throughout the game, players will be battling various giants, undead monsters and countless other enemies brought forward by Ragnarok, the end of times in Viking mythology.
The game can be played either solo or with friends through online co-op multiplayer. Each player will have the option to choose sword and shield, two handed hammers, dual wielded axes and swift bows as their weapons. They will also have a host of Spells at their disposable to devastate enemies through magic.
As well as the regular story mode (and New Game+), players can also test their mettle in the ‘Trials of the Gods’ – a special challenge mode that rewards the best warriors with special equipment and runes.
Some of the other interesting mechanics in the game includes a somewhat survival element where players have to seek shelter and protect themselves from the constant cold. The game also includes destructible environments. Players can crush enemies by dropping mountains or arches over them as well as push them off of cliffs.
Vikings – Wolves of Midgard is expected to release in early 2017 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
