Overwatch Competitive Mode One-Hero Limit, D.Va and Zenyatta Buffs Revealed and Discussed
A couple of days ago Blizzard Entertainment had discussed some of the things they are going to change in the Overwatch Competitive Mode through a future update, referring specifically to connectivity issues as well as cheating. However, it looks like hero selection for teams is also going to change.
Currently, the game allows your team to pick a champion multiple times which means you can essentially have as many Torbjorns running around planting turrets and taking on the enemies that you want – or any other character your team might have mastered for that matter.
This will be replaced by a one-hero limit that Blizzard Entertainment is going to put in place in a future update, and is already being tested on the Public Test Realm of Overwatch.
The lead designer for the game, Scott Mercer, has a thing or two to say about the change that is coming to Overwatch Competitive Mode, he promised that it is not going to affect the Quick Play mode at all:
The big thing for Competitive Play is we’re going to turn on one-hero limit, so players will not be able to stack more than one of the same hero within a Competitive match. It’s not going to affect Quick Play at all, but it is something we’re going to turn on for Competitive.
Moving on, Mercer also revealed that they were listening to the community when they complained about Zenyatta and D.Va being under-powered. As a result, they have decided that a future Overwatch update will change D.Va’s Defense Field and give it a toggle off and on feature with a meter while Zenyatta is getting speed with Ultimate and more shields.
Zenyatta is getting a little more shields, and he goes a lot faster when he uses his Ultimate.
D.Va’s Defense Field, instead of clicking it and it lasting three or four seconds and having a long cooldown, it’s now something where you can toggle it on and off and there’s a meter that runs that.
Parallel to the changes that are coming to the Overwatch Competitive Mode as well as D.Va and Zenyatta, Blizzard Entertainment has also revealed the latest hero of the game called Ana. Here’s a rundown on all the initial details that have been shared for Ana by the developers.
