DOOM Vulkan patch

DOOM Vulkan patch is now available to download. According to Bethesda, players should expect frame rate improvements by switching from OpenGL (4.3 & 4.5) to Vulkan.

The revolutionary graphics and compute API technology interacts with graphics on a deeper level. This allows for efficient use for hardware recourses. Furthermore, this improves the game’s overall performance.

Doom Vulkan patch is available to AMD and Nvidia users. However, keep in mind that Vulkan will not run properly without updating to the latest unified drivers from AMD and NVIDIA for supported GPUs.

In order to switch from OpenGL to Vulkan, open Steam and run the game after updating. You will be prompted with a message asking you to choose either OpenGL or Vulkan.

If your GPU meets the minimum DOOM system requirements than it supports Vulkan. But keep in mind that “Vulkan is not currently supported on NVIDIA GPUs with 2 GB of RAM on Windows 7 or on the GTX 690.  Users with these GPUs need to run DOOM on the OpenGL graphics API.”

MINIMUM:

  • OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

  • Storage: 55 GB available space
Additional Notes: Requires Steam activation and broadband internet connection for Multiplayer and SnapMap
