Rod Fergusson Teases Gears of War 4 Secrets and Easter Eggs
Rod Fergusson, head of Gears of War 4 development studio The Coalition and former employee of Epic Games, has gotten on Twitter and teased that people that buy the game will probably be coming across amazing Easter eggs that he and the rest of the team have enjoyed putting inside it.
Like many video games, the Gears of War series has had a large number of different Easter eggs hidden in it in various small spots. Not including all of the COG tags that have been a series collectible, doing various actions in every game would have some kind of result.
This could be anything from shooting down a COG symbol in Gears of War 1 to spell “HOPE”, a Locust toaster in Gears of War 2, or the Dom’s Beard Easter Egg in Gears of War 3, which you would get after completing the first level and doing a certain action. After that level, every single character will have Dom’s beard (you need to play on Insanity for this one).
However, we have no real idea of what sorts of Easter eggs Gears of War 4 will have. It could be a few outlandish things, there may be some references to previous games. There may even be something like a ten-foot-tall Lambent chicken like what was in Gears of War 3.
Recently Microsoft’s Director of Programming Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, paid a visit to The Coalition’s studios in order to talk about some sort of secret Gears of War 4 stuff. If what Fergusson has said on Twitter is true, we might be getting new Gears of War 4 news soon.
Gears of War 4 will be releasing in October, so we don’t have very much longer to wait until we can actually get our hands on the game itself. It’s likely that once that comes out (considering the number of people that played the beta, there will be some gamers that actively seek out the game’s Easter eggs, so all we have to do is keep an eye out for any sort of news like that.
