Xbox Avatars Will Soon Receive Wheelchairs, Phil Spencer Confirms
Xbox Avatars will soon be getting wheelchairs, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer and Mike Ybarra have confirmed.
Xbox Avatars Getting Wheelchairs
Speaking to fans on Twitter, Microsoft’s Phil Spencer confirmed that including wheelchairs in Xbox Avatars is something the company has already considered without the need of a petition from fans:
No petition needed, we hear you. This is something that we’ve already looked at, not far off.
In addition to Phil Spencer, Xbox’s Director of Program Management Mike Ybarra provided a sneak peek at the upcoming Xbox Avatars update. Judging from the images that Ybarra provided, it appears like some other changes like remodeling – aside from wheelchairs – are on the way.

In addition to revamped Avatar models, it also appears like users will be able to customize wheelchairs as suggested by spinning wheels shown in the images. Coming to the release date, neither Phil Spencer nor Mike Ybarra mentioned anything, but I expect it to be a part of Microsoft’s major fall update.
Although it is nothing huge, this goes out to show Microsoft’s commitment to its fans.
Available on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One, Xbox Avatars feature allows users to create and customize avatars of their favorite characters or themselves and attach them to their online Xbox Live profile.
In relevant Xbox news, Microsoft is now rolling out another Xbox One update for its preview members which brings a ton of new fixes, improvements, stability fixes, and more.
