Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Releases As a Black Screen; Gets Hilarious Reviews on Steam
Somehow, Warner Bros. have managed to mess up yet another PC release! After Batman: Arkham Knight’s dismal launch, Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released early and all it did was play a black screen.
Clearly, these guys need to learn their stuff!
Anyhow, what happened was that the game got launched early accidentally and when Steam users tried playing it all they got was a black screen, occasionally transforming into white. People decided to do the only thing they could i.e. write Steam reviews and it got really, really funny for us – equally embarrassing for Warner Bros.
The first person to write a review for the game on Steam wrote a hilarious line referring to the “nostalgia” it brought because “this was what games did a long time ago… in houses not so far away” and also because he hadn’t had to use the L + Delete command in a while now.
This led to a trail of well humored reviews (all positive, mind you) about Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ early release. One guy agrees “I knew this game was about the dark side, but i didn’t realize it would be all black…” And here’s a more technical review:
I love the contrast ratio in this game, the brilliant absorbing darkness of the launch screen, and the beautiful bright whites of task manager failing to do its job. Outdone themselves on this release 🙂
Other accolades include 10/10 for being the “Best Black Screen Ever” and commendations because the “Pre load comes in 2 awesome swatches, Stormtrooper white and Darth Vader black.”
Honestly, we would have loved to get some more of those reviews for Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens but Warner Bros. issued a quick patch soon after and the game now works perfectly fine… what a dud.
