Possible Nintendo NX Zelda: Breath of the Wild listing
Here’s a listing for a Wii U game that mentions disc
Nintendo NX is going to release next year and if it features cartridges it would be the first time in decades that a mainstream gaming platform will use such a medium that is now mostly used for handhelds like 3DS.
Although we would have prefered getting Blu-Ray discs and it’s odd how they might choose cartridges, it does make us curious to see how it plays out.
Cartridges have a long history with video games, they are strongly affiliated with Nintendo and Atari. These were invented 40 years ago by Wallace Kirschner and Lawrence Haskell. Cartridges were first used in the Channel F console, a Fairchild machine.
They were later brought to the limelight by Nintendo and Atari who created some of the most memorable games and gaming hardware. Seeing the mention of Nintendo NX cartridges is extremely nostalgic. It brings memories from the time when gaming was simple and all about having fun.
Super Mario, Pong, Duck Hunt and many other games are still our most favorite titles. Of course, Nintendo NX cartridges will be extremely advanced comes to what we had decades ago.
Nintendo NX has Just Dance and Zelda: Breath of the Wild in development for it among other games. More titles will be revealed as soon as Nintendo officially unveils the new console which should happen by the end of the year.
