Up to 10 Injustice 2 DLC Characters Are On The Cards; Game Might Have Paid Gear Unlocks
It has only been a few days since NetherRealm Studios revealed Injustice 2 but we have already seen Batman battling it out against Superman, and gotten confirmation that the will be Wonder Woman. What’s more, the developers are already discussing Injustice 2 DLC characters!
NetherRealm creative director Ed Boon has been pretty vocal about things lately and while discussing the “aggressive approach” they plan on taking in terms of downloadable content plans, he has almost revealed how many additional characters you could hope for.
He referred to the number of DLC characters that the studio has released to their past fighting games i.e Mortal Kombat followed Injustice, followed by Mortal Kombat X and now Injustice 2, saying that they started with four and have been increasing the number by two each time.
Following this, the number of Injustice 2 DLC characters should be 10. Here’s what he said:
One of the things we’ve been doing, trying to do more and more with every game… is to support it for a longer period of time. With DLC characters, we’ve had four with Mortal Kombat, six with Injustice, eight with Mortal Kombat X, and with Injustice 2 we plan on continuing that pattern. It will certainly be more aggressive than we’ve been in the past.
Character customization is certainly going to be something the fans will love in the game, and on that point comes in the Gear Unlocking system.
Boon says that NetherRealm wants the feature to be all about “customization, longevity and ongoing molding of your character” for which they are considering using a pay to unlock feature so that those players can unlock the gear quickly whoo don’t want to wait too long for them to unlock with progression.
Apart from the discussion on this and the Injustice 2 DLC characters, the developers have previously confirmed that the game is not going to have a Mortal Kombat X-like easy fatalities system.
