Forza Horizon 3 E3 reveal was one of high points of Microsoft’s press event. The game is coming to Xbox One, Xbox One S and Windows 10 PC.

The new Xbox One S comes with plenty of new features including high dynamic range technology. Forza Horizon 3 is the first game we know about that uses this technology. This positively impacts the clouds and skies in Forza Horizon 3.

The demo shown at E3 featured some pretty spectacular skies and that is thanks to HDR tech. The Xbox One S adds new life to the environments in the next Forza Horizon.

According Turn 10:

It touches everything, but when you look at those skies, when you look at the clouds and suddenly there is so much more range in the whites and the off-whites and the definition there, it is quite astonishing

The HDR tech adds improved higher contrast ratio between light and dark sections of the game. It adds to its visual depth to make it look more realistic. It is promising feature but not everyone will be able to benefit from it. One reason being that the majority doesn’t own an Xbox One S, secondly, even you own an Xbox One S with HDR you’ll still need a television that supports the feature.

Frame rates and resolution will be the same across both Xbox One versions though.

Forza Horizon 3 is coming to Windows 10 and Xbox One on September 27. It is to be noted that Microsoft has introduced a pay once and play across all platforms policy. Get a Windows 10 version and you will have a free copy of Xbox One Forza Horizon 3 and vise versa.
