One of the games that people hoped to see at E3 2016 was Elder Scrolls VI, however, Bethesda Softworks had nothing to show on that front. Now that their press conference is done and dusted, the developers have decided to confirm that the game really is in development.

Don’t get too excited yet, because even though the developers have revealed they are working on it, the game is a “very long way off.”

Todd Howard, the head of Bethesda Game Studios, has finally opened up about the game, assuring that although it is one of the three titles that they are currently developing, he isn’t sure if the technology needed for that kind of a game is still there.

Is Elder Scrolls VI Going to Be A True VR Title?

Without explaining what exactly was so far reaching into the future that it would take so much time, he said that it was like an elephant in the room, and added:

I could sit here and explain the game to you, and you would say, ‘That sounds like you don’t even have the technology. How long is that going to take?’ So it is something that’s going to take a lot of time, what he have in mind for that game.

Apparently, Bethesda does have an idea of what they want the game to be like, but they do not want to rush with it. Howard says that they are thinking very long term on this one.

The fact that he was referencing to time spans like “many years from now” and also clearly stating that the other two Bethesda projects will see the light of day before Elder Scrolls VI, suggests that we will have to make do with the Skyrim Special Edition alone.

It might sound too early from the looks of it, but does this excite you already?
