New Civilization VI Screenshots are More Cartoony Than Expected
We saw an hour long gameplay of Civilization VI featuring a vast variety of things including game setup, the UI, technology, world wonders and even some politics. However, during that time did you find the game a bit too cartoony, like the new Civilization VI screenshots that have been shared recently?
There are some new in-game images that we have shared below. While they clearly show the unstacked cities, being one of the many changes the developers are bringing to city building, they also provide an insight to what we should expect visually.
New Civilization VI Screenshots Released
Not everyone has had the good fortune of being given a hands-on demo by Firaxis that allowed a very small number of players to play the first 60 moves of Civilization VI, which is why we consider these screenshots to be highly relevant.
That being said, you can clearly see other new features in the screenshots too, like the fog of war that is taking over the seas, or how certain settlements and/or buildings are being placed next to specific topographic locations like the sea or the mountains.
Clearly, 2K and Firaxis are improving on things as we speak, and by the time they touch the October 21 release we expect them to polish the textures and the polycount on in-game objects, especially the buildings and the units.
Civilization VI offers new ways to engage with your world: cities now physically expand across the map, active research in technology and culture unlocks new potential, and competing leaders will pursue their own agendas based on their historical traits as you race for one of five ways to achieve victory in the game.
