The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine Released Early For Xbox One Season Pass Holders
If you’re on the Xbox One and own the season pass for The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt, you’re in luck. The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine released early today for you, so you can start playing the final adventure of Geralt of Rivia a day earlier than non-pass holders would.
The expansion pack, the second story DLC for The Witcher 3, was supposed to come out tomorrow, May 31. However, it’s now available to download on the Xbox Store for holders of the Witcher 3 season pass. The fact that Blood and Wine released early will allow those people that do have the season pass to get a first look at the expansion before many other people do.
In Blood and Wine, Geralt of Rivia travels south, away from the war-torn areas of the Northern Kingdoms and into Nilfgaard. More specifically, to the wine-making duchy of Toussaint, which can be heard about in dialogue throughout the base game.
While the region is beautiful, with knights in colorful armor, amazing scenery, and, of course, wine, there’s also something more sinister lurking under the surface.
CD Projekt RED, the developers of all three Witcher games, have been promoting the expansion for months, doing everything from talking about it to releasing screenshots to, at one point, releasing twenty minutes of gameplay footage that allowed players to take a look at some of the monsters we’d be fighting.
It might be that the reason Blood and Wine released early is because CDPR wants to award the game’s season pass holders for their loyalty, and so they’re releasing it for them before anyone else.
Blood and Wine has already gotten a lot of acclaim from various other reviewers. In order to download it yourself if you’re a season pass holder, simply log onto Xbox Live and go to My Games and Apps, where you’ll find the expansion ready to download. For those of you that don’t have a season pass, you’ll unfortunately have to wait a few more hours before the game releases to the general public.
