Destiny Heavy Ammo Glitch Fixed By Patch 220.127.116.11
Destiny’s Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris events are now underway after the Destiny heavy ammo glitch has been fixed by Destiny’s newest patch, 18.104.22.168.
The patch was specifically aimed at getting rid of the glitch in question, which allowed for players that had weapons with two certain perks (Cocoon and Clown Cartridge) to get infinite heavy ammunition, which would have ruined the balance of the game’s multiplayer.
The Destiny heavy ammo glitch involved players using the two perks at the same time. Cocoon, a weapon perk that comes with every weapon from the game’s King’s Fall raid, caused any weapon that spent a short time in its holster to be refilled on ammunition. Clown Cartridge, which comes with weapons with small clips (shotguns, sniper rifles, rocket launchers), would give an extra shot to those kinds of weapons.
When those kinds of weapons are swapped back-and-forth rapidly, a glitch would trigger that would do things like give a rocket launcher a 50-shot clip. Bungie postponed the Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris in order to address the glitch, and had been doing so since late last week.
The reason Bungie elected to fix the Destiny heavy ammo glitch was because otherwise they felt that it would be unfair to punish players for playing the game without specifically knowing about the glitch, which would have led to a number of unfair bans had Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris been allowed to go ahead.
Thankfully the patch isn’t that big since it’s designed specifically to deal with that glitch, but in the meantime you can enjoy a relatively balanced experience with the Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris while they’re still going on this week. With the weapons glitch fixed you can now play to your heart’s content, so don’t be afraid to go out there and play all that you want for a chance at the Lighthouse or for awesome Iron Banner gear.
