Stellaris PC Tweaks Guide With Console Commands to Increase FPS

Stellaris PC tweaks guide with console commands, graphics and performance ini tweaks to increase FPS in this massive strategy game.

Trying to run Stellaris on old computers can be hard without experiencing random frame drops that kill the fun element of the game.

Luckily, there are some console commands that can disable some of the in-game effects – impossible to do so otherwise – that vastly enhance the entire gameplay experience.

Stellaris PC Tweaks Guide

Our Stellaris PC tweaks guide basically revolve around using console commands in the game’s Main Menu to disable some of the in-game effects to gain massive FPS boost without sacrificing a whole lot of image quality.

So far, these Stellaris PC Tweaks have seemed to work for many, but if you wish to know something else, give us a shoutout in the comments below:

Turn Off Multisampling
If you are struggling to get decent Stellaris FPS on your computer, you should consider turning off multisampling from the options menu. Doing this alone will ensure that you gain at least 10 frames per second.

Stellaris PC Tweaks

In order to tweak Stellaris on PC, there are certain commands that you can put in by opening up the game’s console menu. In order to do so, you simply need to press ~ on QWERTY keyboards or ² on AZERTY keyboards.

Do note that you cannot open the console command while in Multiplayer or Ironman so make sure to head back to Main Menu if you wish to go with these commands. This section details some of the commands that can help you attain a playable FPS if you are running the game on an old computer.

tweakergui draw.dust borders.usemesh
After entering this command, you basically need to turn off all dust by unchecking draw.dust which will let you gain around 20-30 frames per second in Galaxy Mode. However, you need to make sure to enable the borders mesh using borders.usemesh which will allow you to see country borders.

bloom
This will allow you to toggle bloom on or off. Turning it off will get you about 5-10 frames per second.

tweakergui draw.objects
In case you are struggling with keeping FPS when it comes to large battles, this console command is definitely for you! This will basically allow you to turn off the drawing of all 3D objects in the star system mode

Stellaris PC Tweaks Text File
Those of you who are forced to re-enter all the console commands every time you launch the game can make a simple text file with all the commands as mentioned above in the game’s folder which is located at:

Steam/steamapps/common/Stellaris/

and then enter ‘run ***.txt’ without commas in the console command. One more thing that you need to know is that *** represents the name of the file and yours directory can be different than mine.

Stellaris Settings.txt
Some people have suggested this fix for increasing FPS on some computers. In order to do so, you need to find settings.txt in the following directory:

C:\Users\username\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris

Once you are in there, you need to set vsync=no and maxanisotorpy to 0. It goes without saying that this has not worked for everyone out there, but it does not hurt to try.

This is all we have on our Stellaris PC Tweaks guide. If there is something else you would like to know, do make sure to let us know in the comments section below!
