World of Warcraft Legion Beta Starts This Thursday

World of Warcraft patch 7.1

If you, like one of World of Warcraft’s millions of subscribers, have been waiting eagerly for the Legion expansion to come out, you’re in luck. The World of Warcraft Legion beta will be starting this Thursday.

World of Warcraft’s newest expansion was first announced last year at Gamescom 2015, being shown with a glorious CG trailer that focused on King Varian Wrynn, the ruler of the Kingdom of Stormwind.

Legion is a sequel of sorts to the World of Warcraft expansion “Burning Crusade,” which focused on an outright attack by the demonic army known as the Burning Legion on the world of Azeroth. Legion focuses on the Burning Legion coming back for another try, forcing the Horde and the Alliance to unite to save their world.

The Burning Legion has had a role in a large number of events in Azeroth. Thousands of years before the start of the franchise they had fought a war against Azeroth in what was termed as the War of the Ancients.

The Burning Legion was also responsible for the formation of the Alliance and Horde, as they had influenced the orc shaman Gul’dan to corrupt his race and invade Azeroth. In Warcraft 3, they created the Lich King, and attempted to do the same.

If you were lucky enough to play the Legion alpha, you’ll have to start again, because every character that was in the Legion Alpha will be wiped when the World of Warcraft Legion beta begins. And considering that the actual expansion will be released on August 30, players have plenty of time between the beta beginning and then to thoroughly explore everything that the new expansion will be bringing.

So, in the meantime, players of the Alliance and Horde should ready themselves to face what is most likely the greatest threat Azeroth has faced yet, even in the face of Garrosh Hellscream and his time-traveling shenanigans.
