Super Mario Minecraft Mash-Up Pack Coming To Minecraft Wii U
Blocky Mario will no longer be a thing of the past, according to a new statement from Mojang, Microsoft, and 4J Studios. Everyone’s favorite Italian plumber will be returning to his roots when a Super Mario Minecraft mash-up pack will be released on May 17. The mash-up pack will be free, as well, so you don’t have to worry about shelling out money for your nostalgia.
Minecraft finally came to the Wii U at the end of 2015, and since both Minecraft and Nintendo consoles are very popular with children it seems like a match made in “block-shaped heaven,” as the press release says.
The Super Mario Minecraft pack will come not just with new textures and tilesets for Minecraft game worlds, but will also come with Super Mario music, over 40 new skins, and item textures as well.
Now, in addition to regular Minecraft enemies like Creepers and Zombies, you’ll be fighting off Dry Bones and Hammer Bros too! You’ll also be treated to the smooth sounds of 15 different tracks from Super Mario 64.
The Super Mario Minecraft mashup will also include a specialized Super Mario world, much like the Skyrim and Mass Effect mashup packs that have been released for other console versions of Minecraft.
When the Wii U version of Minecraft releases in retail form in June, the mashup pack for Super Mario will be included in it for free! The retail version also includes many of Minecraft’s most popular downloadable content packs, also for free. All in all, the retail version will cost a relatively modest $29.99.
The Super Mario Minecraft Mash-Up pack will be releasing May 17 exclusively on the Wii U as a free update, so when the date comes around don’t hesitate to pick it up! Maybe now we can finally think up a castle that will keep Bowser from kidnapping Princess Peach all the time.
