Could Capcom’s “Full Scale Offensive” Mean Resident Evil 7 by March 2017?
Recently, Capcom held an investor meeting to disclose their financial results for the last quarter. While they have not discussed Resident Evil 7 directly, they have mentioned a supposed “full-scale offensive” that they are going to launch in the last quarter of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017.
Of course that does not give away anything, but in the discussion with the investors, the company was talking about Resident Evil related releases when they mentioned it.
First they referred to the release of Resident Evil Umbrella Corps and followed it by saying that it will be a warm up to the aforementioned “full-scale offensive.”
Here’s an excerpt from the document, note how it talks about the series all along:
In the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company is scheduled to release… Resident Evil Umbrella Corps (for PlayStation 4 and PC) of the Resident Evil series, which marked its 20th anniversary in March 2016, as warm up to the full-scale offensive planned for the second half of the year.
This could mean that they will be releasing RE7 before the end of fiscal year ending March 2017!
In the past, Epic Games has teased a new AAA title that is in development, this has also been related to Resident Evil 7 although no official comment has been made to corroborate this.
However, Capcom has been asking the fans to stay tuned for news on the game since a Q&A session was held by them in October last year.
But then again, rumors relating to the game have been in the news since 2013 and even then it was skipping major events like E3.
Do take all this with a proverbial grain of salt since it is pure speculation.
