In today’s video, we discuss something subjective – are video game remasters good or bad? And...
The Battle of YouTube Dislikes: Battlefield 1 vs Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Update: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has reached one million dislikes on YouTube. Meanwhile, Battlefield 1 is closing in on one million likes.
Original Piece: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare reveal trailer has become one of the most hated gaming videos on YouTube. Fans are disliking it in masses which should be a worry for Infinity Ward and Activision.
Its futuristic setting feels redundant, it looks like a love child of Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 3. There is nothing fresh about it other than the fact that it is brining space battles which should be a shame for EA because they couldn’t do the same for Battlefront, a Star Wars game.
However, they made up for everything with an amazing, jaw drawing new reveal trailer for Battlefield 1. The game takes us back to World War 1 and even though we have visited this era before, in the wake of so many modern day shooters using sci-fi setting, it feels like a breath of fresh air without a doubt. To be honest, it is the very first Battlefield game (no disrespect to Battlefield 3) after Bad Company series that I am personally very excited about.
Like I mentioned above, YouTube isn’t a fan of Infinite Warfare but Activision didn’t seem bothered by it, saying that their pre orders are strong so it doesn’t matter.
Activision CEO said:
And while of course we see the passionate opinions online, we also look at other measurements and the fact is, while it’s very early, preorders are off to a very strong start, views of the reveal trailer you referred to are up, and in fact the number of likes-per-view on the Infinite Warfare reveal trailer are also the highest we’ve ever seen.
Great way to give a positive spin to Call of Duty.
To give us “boots-on-the-ground” like gameplay they bundled Modern Warfare remastered with Infinite Warfare, not selling it separately so we can truly see just how much fans are eager to buy Infinite Warfare alone. It would be very interesting to see server data three months down Infinite Warfare release, majority of gamers may be found playing Modern Warfare.
What’s funny is that only yesterday Infinite Warfare YouTube dislikes were over 370,000. After the reveal of Battlefield 1 and at the time of this writing, that number has gone up to 576,973; this is almost triple the number of likes it has.
Are they releasing games for the minority who want the same old rehashed games every year?
Meanwhile, Battlefield 1 has almost twice the amount of likes and next to no dislikes when compared with Infinite Warfare. Here’s a comparison of both.

Battlefield 1 dislikes stand at 8,299 at the time of this writing while likes are near 400,000. Battlefield 1 has almost 5 million views while COD has over 10. Battlefield 1 is still crushing COD as there are only over 8000 dislikes so far. So Battlefield doing way better in terms of dislikes per view and keep in mind that it has only been a few hours since its reveal.
That says alot about what fans want to see, take notes Activision!
The statement above from Activision CEO should be concerning for fans because as long as they have strong sales they will not do something different and who can blame them? The internet hates on Call of Duty each year and goes on to purchase the game. and no doubt same will be the case this year.
Call of Duty is a game most of us grew up playing and it won’t change for the better if we ourselves don’t change.
