New Sea of Thieves Screenshot Serves Nothing but a Teaser
Rare’s upcoming title Sea of Thieves continues to build its anticipation with a screenshot that was posted to Twitter from Rare’s mascot Captain Bones. The screenshot in question is just the latest as more and more news is passed out piecemeal to the Internet at large.
Sea of Thieves is Rare’s latest title, and the first since the lackluster Kinect Sports Rivals, back in 2014. Between then and now Rare also released its Rare Replay collection of 30 games from its first to its most recent, but Sea of Thieves appears to be a return to form for the company, offering new and exciting adventures in a vibrant and colorful world.
The game is a first-person pirate adventure game not unlike that of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, which came out back in 2013 and drew rave reviews for its sailing mechanics. Sea of Thieves was first revealed at last year’s E3, but only through a trailer. At this year’s E3 at the Microsoft Conference in June, we may finally be getting more information about it out of Rare.
The cave screenshot also comes after Rare released two other small screenshots of a small island that might be a major setting in the game, but Captain Bones teases his followers on what might actually be inside the cave.
Following pirate clichés it’s likely treasure of some kind, possibly cursed and with an army of pirate skeletons surrounding it (not too far fetched considering the E3 2015 trailer showed us living skeletons attacking the player) but we’ll have to wait until whenever the game releases to find out what they are.
Though we haven’t gotten much information about Sea of Thieves from Rare, they have been open to having people come to their studio to play the game, and with various statements like how the game may be Rare’s most ambitious title yet, the anticipation is building for many who can’t wait for the game to come out.
