DC Universe Online Cross-Platform Play for Xbox One is not Planned
If you’re a fan of DC Universe Online and you have friends that also play the game but play it on different platforms, like a Playstation 4 or a PC, you’re unfortunately out of luck if you were hoping for cross-platform play to bring you all together.
The DC Universe Online Twitter, in response to a question asked by KillaTubby, said that the game had no plans to bring in cross-platform play for the game even with the game releasing on Xbox One, though PC and Playstation 4 players will be able to play cross-platform.
DC Universe Online is a free-to-play MMORPG that takes place in the Detective Comics universe, where a Lex Luthor from an alternate universe has caused new superheros to appear all over in order to fight an incoming alien invasion from Superman nemesis Brainiac after battles between heroes and villains in his universe left him as the only survivor. Unsurprisingly for Lex Luthor, this turns out to be a bald (snrk) faced lie.
Players can interact with all of the big-name DC universe superheroes like Superman, Batman, Luthor, and the Joker, as they can choose to be either a superhero in the Justice League, or a supervillain in the Secret Society of Villains, the villain organization.
The game first released in 2011 on PC and Playstation 3, but has remained active in the next five years and slowly expanding to other consoles as time went on, including, most recently, the Xbox One today. Other versions for Linux and Mac OSX are coming at different points in the year.
So, unfortunately, if you want to play with your friends, either you or them will have to buy a whole new console or switch to PC if you want to fight the forces of evil (or good) together, but on the bright side you don’t have to shell out fifty more dollars in order to get another copy of the game.
