Call of Duty Modern Warfare Trilogy Appears on Amazon
We might be getting a remastered version of the Modern Warfare trilogy, at least according to a listing on Amazon.com that has popped up today. Even though the items are listed as “currently unavailable,” the fact that they’re listed to begin with might show promise for bringing the game up to current-gen standards.
The Modern Warfare trilogy is one of the best-selling trilogies of Call of Duty games, and put it on the map as a competitor to Battlefield’s own multiplayer component. Prior to that, the Call of Duty games had been an admittedly stale-growing retread of the Second World War, with you playing campaigns across multiple characters that each fight with one country’s army.
The games also gave us some of the series’ most distinctive levels, such as the Chernobyl sniper level of the first Modern Warfare game, sneaking through the snow in a terrorist airfield in Modern Warfare 2, or equipping EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) suits to become Juggernauts in Modern Warfare 3’s finale.
Since Modern Warfare the series has gone farther and farther into the future, ranging from Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 to Advanced Warfare or Call of Duty Ghosts.
Unfortunately there was also a downside to Modern Warfare releasing: Call of Duty became much more prevalent but that opened the floodgates for a rather toxic community to begin playing, which rapidly led to the Call of Duty multiplayer scene also becoming the butt of many jokes on the internet.
Hopefully that’s all subsided now, and the new Modern Warfare trilogy will be able to make gaming history once again. And, with luck, the trilogy pack (if it’s real) will look better, play better, and have the same kind of graphical quality that we’ve seen in Black Ops 3 and Advanced Warfare.
So, let’s all hope that the rumors are true, and that Activision will announce something soon.
