The next addition to the Call of Duty franchise could be called Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, according to an accidental leak by Sony in their PlayStation Store.

The PlayStation Store in North America on PS4 received its weekly update, as is tradition, but there was something really odd about it. A highly conspicuous banner page called Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare appeared when users logged in to the PSN Store.

The name appeared under the ‘Trending Section’ of the PS Store. When clicked on, it provided no details on what the game was, and the page itself seemed to be empty.

As of this writing, the listing has now been removed from under the Trending Section of the store. The leak was spotted by a reddit user who shared the post.

There are also theories that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare may not be a new title in the famous first-person shooter series, but actually a remaster collection from Infinity Ward featuring some of earlier Call of Duty games.

It is highly possible that this could merely be a placeholder title, and the game is called something else, since as of yet Infinity Ward has not registered any such trademark with the PTO.

Personally, I’m hoping it’s a remaster of the initial Call of Duty games, all the way up till Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Seeing though how CoD franchise has annual releases, it seems a tad unlikely that a remaster version would be released alongside or even a few months before this year’s iteration.

In relevant news, there is an additional rumor that the reveal of the next Call of Duty will take place next Tuesday. The rumor is based on a document arriving from critic Jim Sterling.

Perhaps this reveal will make our speculations regarding Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare short-lived. It’s a week-long wait.
