Gaming`s biggest esports league the ESL issued a  ban on YouPorn eSports team despite the team`s offer to change its name and drop all references to its sponsors.

The report comes from VentureBeat which reveals that YouPorn eSports team made numerous offers to ESL in a bid to stay in the league but those offers were refused.

The group already avoids using its full name branding and they also make sure that their official blog and social media are kept separate from their sponsor and safe for work. Also the team have expressed their disappointment in the decision which will certainly have impact on the team`s ability to compete.

In order to compete in ESL the group has suggested that they will remove the acronym “YP” completely, but ESL still have not changed its decision on the basis that whatever name the group re-brands to, YouPorn will still remain silent sponsor for the team.

An ESL spokesperson said:

“Advertising pornography is not legal in the markets we operate in, and the vast majority of partners we’re working with have strict ‘no drugs, no alcohol, no pornography’ rules that we’ve contractually taken on board.

Esports League spokesperson further said that:

These aren’t new rules but ones that have been in our rulebooks for a long time. We have spoken to Team YP manager earlier this year, and in that conversation we’ve explained the situation and rules in detail and offered to look for potential alternatives in a bigger group. At the same time, we’re consulting with our legal teams about this. We will inform the team and the management as soon as we have any updates.
