Uncharted 4 Devs Are Sad to See Nathan Drake Go
Uncharted 4 is Naughty Dog’s final Drake game so even though they may continue work on Uncharted series, Drake won’t be a part of it. The story of Nathan Drake will come to an end with Uncharted 4.
I can imagine how hard it must be to let go Nathan Drake, as a fan it is heartbreaking for myself, so it isn’t hard to understand how some of the devs at Naughty Dog would be feeling right now.
It has been an impeccable journey, great characters, amazing artwork, and not a single weak moment throughout Uncharted’s 9 years. Victor Sullivan, Nathan Drake, Elena, Chloe, and all other characters will never be forgotten. And Uncharted 4 is best send-off characters can ask for, according to Lead designer Ricky Cambier.
He explained how some of the staff is finding it hard to let Nathan Drake go but are satisfied with Uncharted 4.
It kind of varies throughout the studio. I came on-board with Uncharted 3, so for me it’s an honour to be part of the team that is sending this guy off. It is actually a bit of a celebration.
But for other people that have been with him since the inception, there is a lot of sadness. There is a lot of being with him for ten years. Bruce Staley, the game director who started as an art director on Uncharted 1, was working on this last sequence and we were basically sketching in what was effectively Nathan Drake’s final big jump.
And he was getting a little emotional because that is such an iconic Nathan Drake moment, and here was his last one
Uncharted 4 will release on PlayStation 4 on May 10.
After its release, Naughty Dog will start exploring ideas for The Last of Us 2. The studio said it will continue on The Last of 2 once they are done with Uncharted 4 DLC.
