Rare Shares Sea of Thieves Screenshots, More of a Teaser
Rare Studios has released a pair of screenshots about its newest title, only announced at last year’s E3. The Sea of Thieves screenshots aren’t much to go on, but they do promise a lot when you put them with the trailer.
Sea of Thieves is an Xbox One-exclusive Rare title that was announced at E3 2015, and shows a world full of high-seas adventure filled with all of the traditional pirate activities: Hunt for treasure on deserted islands, sail the seas with a crew and a ship, and battle other ships for their treasure or to defend yours.
There’s also a slight supernatural element to it as well, as the E3 announcement trailer shows the pirate we see being attacked by skeletons, along with a rock face painting of a giant squid attacking a ship.
The game promises to be a multiplayer adventure game with first-person elements, with a lot of potential for user-generated content as you make your own custom stories while you play.
The Sea of Thieves screenshots, which depict a small atoll that one can assume is the central location of the game, don’t leave much, but considering we don’t see anything on the island itself, we have no idea of what to look for.
Either way, others have expressed praise for the game, with some even going so far as to claim that the game could be one of the best that Rare has ever made.
Rare released its Rare Replay compilation game last year after announcing it at E3, giving players all 30 of its then-released games on one disc including Banjo-Kazooie, Killer Instinct, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, and more.
We can’t really expect to learn anything more about Sea of Thieves before E3, but if the trailer and the screenshots are anything to go by, it has the potential to be a great game.
