Lizard Squad DDos Attack on Blizzard

Well, it looks like a major DDoS attack on Blizzard has been made by Lizard Squad, which has in turn taken down all of their major games and services including Blizzard EU, World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Hearthstone and Starcraft 2.

While initially no one was taking responsibility of the DDoS attack on Blizzard Entertainment, the infamous Lizard Squad came up a short while later with the expected bragging tweets.

They have taken to their official Twitter account with a series of tweets starting with a vague “get ready” warning which was followed by a list of services and games that they have taken down including Blizzard EU, World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Hearthstone and Starcraft 2.

In other words, every Blizzard game that matters.

This was soon followed by an official statement from Blizzard Customer Support where they confirmed the DDoS attack on Blizzard Entertainment saying “we are currently monitoring a DDOS attack against network providers which is affecting connections to our games.”

The worst part is, these guys don’t appear to be done with the attacks yet. They have teased that they have “more to come” without explaining what they plan to do next.

The reason behind the attack was not clarified by the hacker group, but checking out their previous tweets tells us that on March 31 about 36 members of Lizard Squad were arrested in a “global raid.”

It could be that this massive attack on all the major games including World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, Hearthstone and Starcraft 2 was their way of flaunting the finger to the law enforcement agencies.

We say that because after the attack they also teased the law enforcement agencies saying “arrest us!”
