Mercedes-AMG GT3 is New Project CARS Car

If you’re one of the kinds of car fans who buys a racing game to drive fast, sleek-looking cars, a new Project CARS car might have the sort of ride you’re looking for. The racing game, which came out last May, will be releasing a new car into the game’s lineup: The Mercedes-AMG GT3.

Project CARS was released last May for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC, and was originally also going to be on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U, but these were cancelled. The game offers 74 different cars and 30 different driving locations, with over 110 different tracks. 23 of these offered courses are actual locations in the world in order to distance the game from Gran Turismo and Forza.

The game is a sandbox, allowing players to instantly access any car they want and also go through a day-by-day process of a racing event: players first go through shakedowns and qualifying runs before they get to the race itself, and the weather and lighting changes dynamically as these go on.

Project CARS actually has an acronym in it, standing for “Community Assisted Racing Simulator,” because the game was funded through the effort of fans and the developers of themselves without the aid of a traditional publisher. The game was made on 5 million dollars. The game’s sequel, Project CARS 2, will also be crowdfunded.

The German-made GT3 will be coming to Project CARS on April 15 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC platforms, all for free.

The new Project CARS car was revealed in the real world last year at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. It’s powered by a naturally aspirated 6.3 liter V8 engine, which can produce something very close to 550 bhp (break horsepower).

If you’re one of the people that plays Project CARS and can’t wait to get your hands on the Mercedes-AMG GT3, you’ll only have to wait until Friday to be able to get it in-game.
