If you’re one of those people that knows that Resident Evil 4 is one of the greatest Resident Evil games, you’re in luck. Resident Evil 4 HD, the remastered version that will soon be available on the Playstation 4, has appeared and is available for pre-order on Amazon’s Canada version.

Resident Evil 4 was first released on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2005, and quickly won critical acclaim as one of the best video games ever made. The success of RE4 caused quicktime events to become something of a staple of Resident Evil gameplay, and the attaché case that served as your inventory became something of a meme to the internet as players struggled to keep it relatively organized.

Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 were not received as warmly, mainly due to the shoehorning of co-op and bad controls and (in 5’s case) racism due to having black zombies and eventually a stereotypical mud-hut village with enemies chucking spears.

Oh dears.

Resident Evil 4 HD is part of an effort by Capcom to bring the three latest Resident Evil games to Playstation 4 and the Xbox One in remastered forms. Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil 6 will be releasing in reverse order over the rest of 2016, with Resident Evil 6 HD having come out on March 29. Resident Evil 5 HD will be coming out during the summer, while Resident Evil 4 HD sometime during the fall. Each of these new versions will be released not only on the Playstation 4, but also the Xbox One.

Resident Evil 4 HD had already been released on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 in 2011, bringing new graphics, and in 2014 Capcom released Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition, which upped the graphics and introduced a large number of new mechanics.

While we’ll still have to wait until the fall in order for Resident Evil 4 HD to be on current-gen consoles, it’s definitely something that I’ll personally be looking forward too, along with the Resident Evil remake games already available on the Xbox One and Playstation 4.
