Unravel Demo Lets You Play the First Level for Free
Almost two months after its release on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC an Unravel demo is now available for those players unsure about what the game is all about. The free demo will allow you to play through the first level, Thistle and Weeds, for up to ten hours on Xbox One and PC (through Origin) or to your heart’s content on PS4.
Unravel follows the story of the adorable Yarny, a ball of wool that has transformed into a humanoid sprite that traverses many different landscapes that essentially revisit an old woman’s memories. As he moves away from his starting destination his body literally unravels, demanding the player to seek out extra bits of wool for his journey to continue. The Coldwood Interactive title that’s published by EA is a 2D platformer that has been highly praised for its visuals, especially due to its indie roots. The actual platforming was not to everyone’s tastes due to its repetitiveness and lack of original puzzles but the emotional story and aesthetic qualities along with an incredible soundtrack make it a more than worthwhile experience.
If you are still unsure about trying out Unravel then why not have a read about the inspiration behind Yarny and the game itself. It’s clear that a lot of love went into the character both by reading the developers’ comments and playing the game itself. If you do decide to play, or have already played but not quite found them all then have a look at our collectible secrets guide.
There’s no harm in trying out this Unravel Demo if you can just to see what all the fuss is about. If you do and decide to play the game then let us know what you think in the comments below. Alternatively if you have already played Unravel then get in touch as well.
