Dark Souls pc requirements

It’s only been a week since From Software released the Dark Souls 3 PC requirements, but now it seems like they’ve upped the ante in order to make the game look as good as possible.

Previously, the Dark Souls 3 PC requirements were these:

Minimum System Requirements:
OS: Windows 7 SP1 64bit, 64bit Windows 8.1 Windows 10 64bit
Processor: AMD A8 3870 3.6 GHz or Intel Core i3 2100 3.1GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 / ATI Radeon HD 6870
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 50 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 11 sound device

Recommended System Requirements
OS: Windows 7 SP1 64bit, 64bit Windows 8.1 Windows 10 64bit
Processor: 3.6 GHz or AMD FX 8150 Intel Core ™ i7 2600 3.4 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750, ATI Radeon HD 7850
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 50 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 11 sound device

As of today, however, From Software has adjusted the Dark Souls 3 PC requirements to these:

Minimum System Requirements:
Processor: Intel Core i5 2500, AMD FX 6300
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti, AMD Radeon HD 6870
Memory: 8 GB RAM Hard drive: 20 GB of space required
OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit, Windows 8.1 64-bit

Recommended System Requirements
Processor: Intel Core i7 2600, AMD FX 8350
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Memory: 8 GB RAM Hard drive: 20 GB of space required
OS: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit, 64-bit Windows 8.1, Windows 10 64-bit

The Souls games have always had high requirements to go with their highly-polished look, so the requirements aren’t really that surprising (though hopefully the PC port of Dark Souls 3 will be better than the Dark Souls 2 port), but From Software raising the bar after already putting out the PC requirements is a surprise.

Whether they decided their previous requirements weren’t going to be able to run the game at its highest quality or some other reason remains to be seen, but we just have to trust in what Miyazaki is feeling.
