Eric Medalle, a creative design director for Pokemon games recently met an unexpected death in King County, Washington. He was driving home with his daughter when a windstorm hit and a massive tree crashed down on his SUV.

The accident occurred on this Sunday when the father and son were out for a drive around 1:30 in the afternoon. They were on the Seward Park Road near the Lost Lake Trail when the storm set in.

However, the daughter of Eric Medalle was fortunate enough to survive the freak accident with just some minor injuries.

The authorities say that “it was totally unforeseen with such high abnormal wind speeds and the amount of rain we had received… any prediction or risk assessment that we would have done if we had seen this tree prior just really wouldn’t be valid in such extreme weather conditions”

As far as Medalle’s contributions to the Pokemon series are concerned, he has a lot of titles to his name. As a creative design director for the developers; his latest work was on Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire for the English and European Graphic Design.

Before that, he has worked on Pokemon X and Y for the English and European Graphic Design, the artwork of Black and White’s English version, the artwork of Ranger: Shadows of Almia’s English version, graphic design of Ranger: Guardian Signs’ English version and the artwork of HeartGold and SoulSilver’s English version.

Our hearts go out to the family of Eric Medalle, may they find the strength to endure.

Thanks, King5.
