A couple of days ago Aaron Greenberg was teasing a Gears of War 4 beta related news and now we know what that was about. The official launch dates of the beta testing phase have been confirmed.

The “global Versus multiplayer beta” is being launched exclusively on Xbox One.

According to Microsoft, the closed beta (which you get from having played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10) starts on April 18, 2016 and last for a week until April 24, 2016.

By playing Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 they mean that you should have bought and played the game any time before April 11, 2016. The closed beta access was previously restricted to people who had played the Ultimate Edition by March 1.

Gears of War 4 Beta Launches on April 18

Beginning on April 18, fans who’ve played Gears of War: Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or Windows 10 will begin to receive tokens in waves for early access to the beta. Following the conclusion of early access on April 24, all qualifying Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One will be invited to join the beta until it ends on May 1.

This will be followed by an open beta testing phase which will start on April 25, 2016 and stay up for another week before ending on May 1, 2016.

Also, during the Gears eSports ESL Pro League Season 2 finals livestream on April 23, “a new competitive game mode for Gears of War 4” will be revealed. At the same time during PAX East, a demo of the Gears of War 4 Versus multiplayer will be available at the Xbox booth.
