David Hayter Denies Working on a New Metal Gear Game
Despite a recent, rather cryptic tweet, David Hayter is not working on a new Metal Gear game. After teasing fans with a snippet of a script involving Snake and Campbell having an urgent conversation, many people speculated that Hayter may be making a return to the popular series or an upcoming sequel.

However I’m afraid this is not the case. In a recent interview with Metal Gear Central, Hayter revealed that the project is nothing to do with Metal Gear at all.
“People are very excited, which is a great thing and I appreciate [but it] is not a new Metal Gear game” he explains. What he is working on is something he is “very happy” with but “people should not get too excited [because it’s not] the return of Metal Gear Solid or something like that”.
A lot of people were upset over the news that Hayter had been replaced by Kiefer Sutherland for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, so the thought of his return in some capacity in the series was music to their ears. As he explains in the video, the Watchmen and X-men films writer is still very busy with a lot of other video game jobs including Marvel Heroes as the Winter Soldier.
Metal Gear Solid V was still widely praised despite Hayter’s absence, and we even think it turned into an 80’s TV show, in a good way!
