Konami are switching off PES 2015 servers in Japan in August
It looks like the end for PES 2015 is nearing, online anyway. Konami are switching off PES 2015 servers in Japan in August.
German games news site Gamefront have reported that Konami are to turn off the server for PES 2015 in Japan on 25/8/2016. No announcements have been made for other countries, but with this first one being made it is likely that more will follow.
The hope of course will be that fans of the popular football games will now be on PES 2016 and playing online on that game’s servers. The turning off the server for 2015 may also be part of the plans to move onto PES 2017. Though that is purely speculation, as no new game has yet been announced.
When the servers are turned off, this will not make the game unplayable, so don’t worry if you are still on the 2015 version of the game. What this change will do is turn off the online features of the game. This is something that Konami have done in the past, with their shutting down of the PES 2014 server happening in 2015.
It will be interesting to see how fans take the news that Konami are switching off PES 2015 servers in August. It may be that they won’t really care. As long as the latest game is working fine, these servers should not be needed. If there are gamers still on the 2015 version of the game though, they may not agree with this, especially if they have no desire to move onto 2016.
