Assassin’s Creed Break Confirmed, No Game for 2016

By   /   Feb 11, 2016

In news that many had already guessed, Assassin’s Creed break is confirmed for 2016. This is the chance for the developers to refresh the franchise’s batteries and come back with a bang next year.

The confirmation about the Assassin’s Creed break came from the development team themselves:

“This year, we also are stepping back and re-examining the Assassin’s Creed franchise. As a result, we’ve decided that there will not be a new Assassin’s Creed game in 2016. Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity, we’ve learned a lot based on your feedback. We’ve also updated our development processes and recommitted to making Assassin’s Creed a premier open-world franchise. We’re taking this year to evolve the game mechanics and to make sure we’re delivering on the promise of Assassin’s Creed offering unique and memorable gameplay experiences that make history everyone’s playground.”

As a fan of Assassin’s Creed in its many forms, this comes as good news to me. While I enjoyed Assassin’s Creed Syndicate it is fair to say that issues that had plagued Assassin’s Creed Unity were still there haunting the franchise. A refresh was needed, and thankfully we are getting it.

This doesn’t mean that Assassin’s Creed won’t be around this year though, we have the Chronicles games as well as the movie, which the team also mention in the update:

“Also, we recently unveiled the first images of Academy Award nominee Michael Fassbender in action as our lead Assassin in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie that hits theaters on December 21, 2016.”

So even with this announcement, the future for Assassin’s Creed is bright. Now to wait and see just what this refresh brings.
