With the Beta coming to PlayStation 4 and PC soon a few details have been clarified by Square Enix. One of these is the requirement to have a permanent internet connection for the game.

Based on the FAQ that has been released it states that a permanent internet connection is required:

“You will need an internet connection to download and play the Beta throughout the Beta period.”

Today though after contacting Square Enix, VideoGamer are reporting that while a permanent connection will be required for the Beta period of testing, the full game can be played offline:

“Yes you can play the full game offline after you have downloaded an episode,” the rep confirmed, “but there are live elements which you will need to access online.”

So anybody worried about the permanent internet connection situation can now stop worrying. While there will be “Live” elements that will obviously need the connection to run, the actual game is not restricted by your internet connection.

For those with access to the Beta, the FAQ also reveals when the Beta will start:

“SCEE regions (Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Oceania)
The PS4 Beta is scheduled to start at 11:00 CET on February 12th 2016 and end on February 15th at 11:00 CET.
(It’s at this time that you’ll see the Beta in the PSN Store. Anyone with an active pre-order will be able to download it.)

SCEA regions (United States, Canada and Latin America.
