The financial results yesterday wasn’t the only thing Nintendo announced recently, as Nintendo of America issued a press release confirming the launch details of their smartphone app Miitomo, as well as their future plans for the mobile platform.

The Miitomo app is exclusively made for smart devices, and will launch in March for iOS and Android phones and tablets.

The app features Mii characters, through which users will be able to interact with their friends, transforming communication into a form of ‘play,’ according to Nintendo.

Alongside Miitomo, the firm will also plans to launch a revamped My Nintendo rewards program, a service that will allow users to explore offered products and surfaces in multiple ways. Miitomo users will be able to connect the app with My Nintendo.

The game industry giant also confirmed future release of approximately five smart device applications by the end of March 2017. The firm had already shown intent last year of penetrating the mobile market, but have only initiated and publicized it this year.

The registration for the Miitomo app will begin on February 17. You can do so by singing up for the new Nintendo Account service using existing email, social media accounts, or current Nintendo Network IDs.
