The Culling is a Hunger Games Inspired Title With Extra Brutality
The title says it all really – The Culling is a game that was announcing today via a new trailer. It’s heavily inspired by Hunger Games, but goes a few notches up with the violence and brutality.
The Culling will pit sixteen players against each other on a deserted island, giving them the necessary time and tools to craft weapons and traps, then letting the chains loose as the players hunt each other down till only one is left alive.
The game’s developer Xaviant seems to enjoy this concept a lot, admitting the inspiration taken from mods for games like DayZ.
“I love battle royale mods for games like H1Z1 and DayZ, and The Culling takes that experience and distills it into pure brutal bliss. Whether you’re playing it casual or competitive, this will flip the script on how players view multiplayer survival games.”
Staying true the core aspect of the concept, there will be no respawns in the game. Matches will give players a full 20 minutes to explore, scavenge items, craft different weapons, set traps, and eventually kill each other till one remains.
The battle royale mode in a standalone product certainly sounds attractive, and The Culling hopes to turn it into its own unique genre.
The game will hit Steam Early Access on March 8. Till then, enjoy the trailer, shared above.
