Scalebound is “Super-Aspirational”, Devs Needed More Time: Aron Greenberge
We have seen plenty of delays over the past couple of years, I think this generation of consoles is going to be known of its delays. We are use to it by so when Scalebound was pushed back, it came as no shock.
Even though we know why Scalebound was delayed thanks to Platinum Games, we would like hear what Microsoft has to say about this. Aaron Greenberg from Microsoft was asked by IGN regarding Scalebound delay, he said that Scalebound is super-aspirational and they wanted developers to have enough time with the project.
As we’re looking at the lineup for this year, and where [developer Platinum Games] are [with Scalebound]–what their aspirations are; that game is super-aspirational…we want to be able to give them enough time and resources to do that,” Greenberg said.
So strategically, give it time to breathe; let’s make sure we can give it enough space. First and foremost, always make sure the game is great.
Well, it is always better to delay the game then to release a mediocre version of its original vision; but the worst part about this particular delay was its duration. Scalebound was not pushed back a couple of months, but a whole year. That is just salt on the wounds.
Expected in 2016, the game is now planned for release in 2017 on Xbox One. Hopefully, a whole year is enough for devs to deliver their vision.
