The Witness is No. 1 on Pirating Sites, Dev Warns About Future Games
Okay so The Witness is the new craze among fans if indie games and why not, led by Braid famed Jonathan Blow, Thekla Inc. has really turned the 3D puzzle into a very well crafted and long lasting title with as many as 650 total puzzles.
In fact, the game is so popular among the community right now that its piracy has skyrocketed. So much so that Blow himself had to mention it in one of his tweets from his official Twitter profile.
Blow, who is the game’s director, producer, programmer, designer and writer says that “it seems The Witness is the #1 game on a certain popular torrent site. Unfortunately this will not help us afford to make another game!”
I'm glad that a lot more people will be experiencing the game! But I also want to be able to make another comparable game next! Just sayin'.

That is certainly true, these guys are a small group of people and most of the work done was by Blow himself. They need the funds from the sale of The Witness more than any other AAA game developer or publisher does from their latest becuase they would still be able to churn out another game as they have financial backing.
Yet, he goes on to say that he is “glad that a lot more people will be experiencing the game! But I also want to be able to make another comparable game next! Just sayin’.”
By the way, did you know that the developers can tell if a streamer is using a pirated or a legitimate copy of the game for streaming purposes? Apparently, a number of streamers are also using pirated copies of the game and still making money from it. Blow says he saw a streamer with as many as three million views using a pirated copy ofThe Witness – that is just sick.
