The Witcher 3 was Even More Hyped Than Fallout 4 & GTA 5!
In today’s world, marketing hype is one of the primary triggers of success, there is no denying that and we have hordes of video game releases as well as brands in general that would testify to that.
A number of times it happens that a game (read: Batman Arkham Knight) is the talk of town for a good long time but it disappoints people when it releases. Nonetheless, the publishers get the takeaway in the form of revenue thanks to a massive media coverage.
While not all the games are like that, let’s take a look at a media review from past year to see which games won the media (and which games did justice to that hype).
In terms of video game titles, it has been revealed – rather surprisingly – that The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt got even more coverage than Fallout 4, a game that was the lap-boy of rumors because Bethesda stayed silent for so long.
Not only that, CDPR managed to beat all other games from last year with as many as 51098 articles being written on it. Here are the most hyped games:
- The Witcher 3 – 51098
- Fallout 4 – 50144
- GTA 5 – 49002
- Star Wars Battlefront – 44774
- Minecraft – 37278
- Call of Duty Black Ops 3 – 34994
- Batman Arkham Knight – 33226
- Metal Gear Solid 5 – 33098
- Destiny – 27920
- Mortal Kombat X – 27159
- Bloodborne – 26169
- League of Legends – 21981
- Halo 5: Guardians – 21182
- Rise of the Tomb Raider – 20838
- Splatoon – 20637
- Battlefield Hardline – 20486
While “media coverage” does not equate to the value of the game experience in the the true sense, it does play a vital role in making a game popular in the community. Do you agree with how online publications have covered your favorite games? We’d like to learn more!
